Lyna university students join Bad Bunny Tour

When Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny born Benito Martinez set out for his "Most Wanted Tour," he sought a bold new sound an orchestra. He found it in Lynn University's Aurora String Quartet, composed of violist Rosa Ortega Iannelli violinists Mable Lecrone and Ruvit Bracho Marquez and cellist Joel Osinga .As part of Lynn's Conservatory of Music chamber music program and under the guidance of associate professor and violist Chauncey Patterson the quartet was well-prepared for the challenge. The opportunity arose when Bracho an awardee of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, connected with Grammy-winning producer and Bad Bunny's orchestra director Carlitos Lopez

.A once in a lifetime experience of Bad Bunny

The quartet first joined as part of the 24-piece Philharmonic orchestra project for Bad Bunny Hoodie on his 49city tour across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Initially contracted to perform five songs per night, the orchestra earned an expanded role, opening each concert with three cinematic overtures composed by Lopez. The tour provided a close look at the production of big arena shows and brought all four members closer together on a journey of hands-on experiences.

For these classically trained musicians, stepping onto stages before crowds of 15,000 was unforgettable. "The eruption from the crowd was unlike anything I'd ever experienced Osinga said. "It felt like the crowd exploded."The quartet also followed an intense schedule, undergoing wardrobe, hair and makeup sessions before daily sound checks and rehearsals. "Sometimes we would do live sectionals, and everything was being recorded," Bracho said. Osinga, the cello section leader, worked closely with fellow musicians to fine-tune their performance despite the challenges of large-scale productions. The orchestra's string section included six first violins  four-second violins three violas and three cellos.

The experience expanded the student's view of their careers. "I'm classically trained but not just a classical musician," Osinga said. I'm a musician. Bracho agreed, noting her earlier work with the Latin Grammy Foundation had already diversified her playing, but the Bad Bunny tour brought it to a new level. "Nothing compares to what I just did," she said.Despite the academic schedule the quartet maintained their connection to Lynn balancing online classes and recording chamber pieces for feedback. Now back in Boca Raton the Aurora String Quartet continues honing their craft inspired by their time on tour.
